The Morning Bun: Quick blurbs with a fresh take on our Yuppie lives that we would probably share over mimosas…if it were not a weekday.
After finally watching the complete Lil Dicky music video “$ave Dat Money,” I was blown away. Creative, bold, hilarious — this guy knew exactly how to break the mold in a crowded space. Here’s a Millennial Jewish guy from the Philadelphia metropolitan area who moved to San Francisco to work in Marketing (sounds vaguely familiar 🤔). He then quit his job and pursued his absurd rap career. Now, sure enough he’s on the up, up, and up. Frankly, I don’t know enough about rap to judge his rap skills, but what he has done with his brand is absolutely genius. I think it shows all of us that going against the grain in a certain space can lead to immense success. Be that one Jewish rapper at every Hip-Hop event. Be that one female coder on your team. Be that Bumble date who takes your date to a Cabaret. Be different, go against the grain, and you may end up like Lil Dicky.
