Discover Weekly saves my Mondays

Morning Bun: Quick blurbs with a new perspective, take on our Yuppie lives that we would share over mimosas…if it were not a weekday.

Our mindset for the first twenty minutes we’re up on a weekday morning sets the stage for the day. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed, and your day could be full of spaz attacks blasting your work superiors. Wake up on the right side of the bed, and your optimism for the day is unmatched. As I’m ALWAYS running late in the morning, an anchor to the craziness every Monday morning is my Spotify “Discover Weekly” playlist.

When this anchor throws in way too much “Weeknd” or “T-Swift” (before you judge, this was a themed pregame), then my game is off. It’s Shaq at the free throw line. It’s Kanye West without the floating stage.

Now, when it is on, I’m on. I’m ebbing, I’m flowing, I’m vibing and discovering the freshest new music I never would have found otherwise. Music is a core pillar of my DNA (High School Jazz band represent — alto saxophone for those curious). So when this core pillar is flat out MONEY for what I want to listen to / when I want to listen to it, I’m in a great place. I’ll get endless stares from coworkers as I fist pump. I’ll get confusing emojis from those closest to me asking why I’m in such a good mood. I’ll even get at least 2–3 Snapchat replies if I position this excitement with the right geofilter.

Spotify, thank you for the greatest feature in the history of music streaming. Go time.

Here are a couple of my favorite Discover Weekly songs lately:

Make Me Better — UNCLE Reconstruction

It’s Strange — LeMarquis Remix

Get It On

Lies

Ingrid is a Hybrid
