The Morning Bun: Quick blurbs with a fresh take on our Yuppie lives that we would probably share over mimosas…if it were not a weekday.
As you may know, I decided to join San Francisco’s acclaimed Improv scene. Once a week, my Improv Troupe (always wanted to type that) took me to incredible creative heights with the silliest of the silly games, the most profound of the profound skits (still funny of course), and the most precise of the precise sketch writing. An inherently wacky place, San Francisco’s culture is ideal for taking your first improve class. Even crazier, we decided to perform for an audience of fellow San Francisco #Yuppies, #Millennials, and #People.
Surprisingly, we killed it. Getting up on stage, saying goodbye to my comfort zone, and quite literally losing my mind was one of the most fulfilling experiences of 2016. I had an absolute blast (see my latest Instagram) and cannot wait to get back on stage to perform.
I’m finally empathetic of the standup comics comparing their performances to therapy. We all have our equally absurd roller-coaster lives, so sometimes you need to get away from the routine, away from the bills, the headaches, the emails and just make people laugh. Truly an eye-opening experience, and I can’t wait to continue my Improv practice, share some best practices, and chuckle at least a few extra times per day…
The zone of comfort can be cozy,
But then people might be too nosy,
So if you do rightfully decide to break through it,
Extra growth in your life will help you stay fit
